What:  Street Jam

When: 23rd, July, 2015

What Time: 2.00pm-4.30pm

Theme: Raising awareness on Volunteerism

The #ImpactKwali VSO/ICS volunteers and Team Leaders hit the road at 2.00pm on this day. The day’s event started at the office’s gates with volunteers and Team Leaders taking photos with placards that bore volunteerism and other inspirational quotes from VSO and from the volunteers themselves; these were meant for their #ImpactKwali gallery collection and social media sites.Later, the MCs sprang into action as the Deejay put the team on a live mode by playing one of the team’s favorite music. With this, the team danced its way to the streets of Kwali, with placards raised up in the air…each of the team members also carried flyers, which bore the message of volunteerism and our mission in Kwali, and distributed them to various people on the road.

The procession passed through the Unity Bank junction, to Rhema Foundation hospital where we addressed a crowd of parents and children, then proceeded to the mini-market where the team addressed another group of curious adults and children. Finally, the procession stopped at PDP Centre; they addressed a crowd of 200 children and about 50 adults. The team introduced themselves to the children, explained about their mission in Kwali which is to create SPACES for children in four schools (J.D.S.S Kwali, Kwali Central, Sheda, & Bako) and help them improve in mathematics and sciences besides impart other skills to the children.

The team also passionately passed across the message of volunteerism to the audience.  Finally, all children were requested to ensure they join any of the spaces created so as to learn more.

The event ended with group photos of volunteers and children.
